The Interim People Director will take leadership responsibility for developing and driving the people strategy, also providing strategic and operational leadership to the people function, health and safety, internal communications and engagement. You will lead and champion the development of a positive organisational culture which exemplifies the organisations values and commitments, providing professional advice to the board and deputise for the Managing Director on professional matters. This role can be offered as a part-time or full-time opportunity and will require a minimum of 2 days on-site at offices in the East Kent region.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • As part of the Board or Directors and Senior Leadership team, participate in the development of the Organisational Strategy and annual Business plan
  • Be an active and effective member of the Board and Senior Leadership team, ensuring the high visibility, focus and delivery of people strategies.
  • Working with, and through the Leadership team, lead the development of culture across the organisation to enable our Client to achieve the aims of the Business plan
  • Ensure that the Board and relevant committees are sufficiently informed and engaged to enable them to effectively discharge their duties
  • Provide assurance to the Board on Safeguarding matters and act as Safeguarding lead 
  • Provide clear and inspirational leadership to motivate and develop the People team to deliver high quality, customer-centred services. Ensure that the quality and standard of services provided is the highest possible within available resources and positively benchmarked against organisational targets and comparative organisations
  • Lead on maintaining good industrial relations with our recognised trade unions and lead on negotiations on pay terms and conditions on behalf of the Managing Director
  • Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of business focused OD support to the business
  • To manage the professional lead for Health & Safety & Risk ensuring the team meet their statutory obligations for the business and any clients for whom services are provided

 

Experience/qualification required:

  • Educated to degree level with Masters level postgraduate or equivalent qualification 
  • Substantial management experience at a strategic level in a large complex organisation
  • Experience of and ability to motivate and lead a large scale and diverse team within a large, complex organisation
  • Significant experience of leading organisations, senior managers and teams through organisational change driving a performance culture and developing high performing leaders, employees and teams
