Our Client, a care provider based in Kent and South East London is looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join their busy and supportive team, reporting into the Assistant Director of People and Organisational Development.  The role can be based at home with regular visits to the care homes based in North Kent and South East London with once a week based at the head office in Kent. This role can be considered on 4 day a week basis. The role will manage a variety of volume and some complex casework and will require someone who can hit the ground running and a good up to date knowledge of UK Employment law.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development of HR Skills in managers by advising on matters of employment law and best employment practice and the interpretation of terms and conditions and HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring managers are aware of and apply policy and procedures effectively, treating employees fairly, in line with good practice and legislative requirements whilst meeting Business need.
  • Working with the Regional Care Directors support and assist managers through complex HR cases, including disciplinary, grievance and capability processes.
  • To advise on the management of casework, relating to sickness absence. This includes making recommendations, giving advice and support to managers, liaising with Occupational Health, case review meetings and ill­ health capability hearings.
  • To support the development and maintenance of a performance management culture. This includes developing manager's skills in this area, advising on capability-related casework, and advising and guiding managers through the relevant policies.
  • To prepare regular and ad hoc management information reports, as agreed with service areas, to support continuous improvement in the management and monitoring of sickness absence and performance management.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with service areas, colleagues and union representatives, establishing professional credibility.
  • Provide HR advisory input into various projects and incentives, change management programmes and working groups as required.

 

Skills/Attributes required:

  • Experienced working as an HR Advisor (any sector)
  • Experienced providing law and policy advice to Managers
  • Experienced in dealing with ER issues such as Grievances, performance management and capability
  • Ability to travel across Kent and South East London
  • CIPD would be an advantage but not essential
