An excellent 3-month contract opportunity has arisen for a Governance and Compliance Manager within a highly reputable and flexible hybrid working culture organisation. You will report into Director of Governance and Compliance and be the operational lead with a drive for results and strategic capability. You will have responsibility for the sound governance, ensuring an effective secretariat service. 3-month contract to start ASAP - Hybrid Working - Office in Dartford

 

Role and Responsibilities:

  • To monitor governance and regulatory compliance, identifying and reporting on areas of concern to the Director of Governance & Compliance and ultimately to the Executive Team.
  • To keep abreast of the external environment and drive continuous improvement.
  • To coordinate all regulatory enquiries and requirements.
  • To submit all corporate returns and statutory filings on behalf of Moat and its subsidiaries.
  • To act as a central point of contact for, and manage all operational matters relating to, Data Protection, Whistleblowing, Bribery Act, Anti-fraud, Section 20 and Consumer Credit Licence. Taking a proactive approach to promoting compliance across Moat.
  • To manage the Board and Committee calendars and work plans, providing an effective support service including overseeing all associated secretariat and administration.
  • To advise and guide on methods that contribute to co-regulation activities.
  • To promote the Board and Committees via the Moat website.
  • To support the wider business in all mergers and acquisitions from initial information gathering through to ensuring probity is maintained; also ensuring best practice from both organisations is adopted.
  • To manage the Declarations of Interest exercise and oversee the maintenance of Board and Committee records and statutory registers.
  • To deputise for the Director of Governance & Compliance for guidance of the Board in the execution of its tasks. Including updating company rules, standing orders, terms of reference and codes of governance and, in particular, act as the Data Protection Officer and Company Secretary in their absence.
  • Ensure departmental responsibilities in relation to Data Protection are met.
  • To be the contact for the Regulator for Social Housing in the absence of Director of Governance & Compliance.
  • To manage the induction process for new Board members.
  • To coordinate the annual Board strategy day.
  • To work with the secretariat’s management team to ensure full risk, health & safety and policy compliance. 

 

Experience required:

  • Degree level qualification, relevant governance qualification or equivalent
  • Company Secretary / Governance experience in public or not-for-profit sector
  • Sound understanding of the regulatory environment and legal requirements of the social housing sector.
  • An awareness of data protection legislation and its practical operational implications.
  • Strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office
  • Sound understanding of data protection legislation
  • ICSA qualification
  • Good understanding of Section 20 requirements and practices (Landlord and Tenants Act)
